After our look at this last topic week, there was some confusion about why the control panel page for Joomla prevents some #joomla admins from proceeding to other areas of the backend of their sites immediately after logging in. But we've figured out what the cause is and why last week's solution works and in the process found another solution to add to your Joomla toolkit as well! That's what this Maintenance Monday takes a look at.

  • Title: "MOAR!!! How to Speed Up the Joomla Control Panel Page - Maintenance Monday Live Stream #017 - YouTube"
    - Hosted by Tim Davis, a Joomla enthusiast.
    - Livestream focused on speeding up the Joomla control panel page.
    - Previous week's topic: Disabling plugins to prevent admin area slowdown during Joomla extension checks.
    - Comment from viewer Josh Gilson disagreed with disabling base plugins for update and security checks.
    - Investigation led to discovering that the session handler setting affected admin area speed.
    - Changing the session handler setting from PHP to database improved admin area responsiveness.
    - It's a known issue in Joomla; setting the session handler to PHP causes delays until extension checks complete.
    - Two recommended solutions: Set session handler to database or unpublish the two discussed plugins from the previous episode.
    - Tim Davis plans an upcoming giveaway on Boxing Day and mentions the current monthly giveaway on basic Joomla com.
    - Announces an additional prize for the January giveaway.
    - Invites viewers to ask questions or suggest topics in the comments or via email (Tim at cyber salt dot com).
    - Sign-off and encouragement to like, subscribe, and leave comments for better Joomla help searchability.
