Load to my computer a test site made in Joomla, so I can learn

What about loading into my computer a simple website made in Joomla, and then access that site as administrator through its provided credentials? Then use that to experiment and learn how to use Joomla on my local host without dealing yet with remote access. I have yet to find that, but they must be available I am guessing.

That said, I like doing my experimenting with Joomla installs on my webhosting account. I have many installed in subdomains. It saves me the effort of figuring out how to do it locally and I know what I am trying is being done right in the environment it has to eventually live in.
