What this page is
Cybersalt Pro extensions distributed via Cybersalt Release Manager (cs-release-manager) are gated by a membership check. When you install a Pro extension and click Activate Pro in its admin dashboard, the extension contacts Cybersalt, verifies your membership, and unlocks the Pro features on your site.
This page explains what each of the four possible outcomes means and what to do next.
How to activate
- Install the extension on your Joomla site (e.g. via Extensions → Install from URL).
- Open the extension's admin dashboard.
- Find the Pro Activation card. Enter the email address associated with your Cybersalt account and click Activate Pro.
- The extension's dashboard refreshes and shows you one of the four states below.
The four activation states
✓ Active — you're in
Green border, "Active" badge.
What it means: Cybersalt found your account and confirmed your membership is active. The extension's Pro features are unlocked, and future updates will install automatically without you re-entering your email.
What to do: Nothing. Use the extension as documented.
⚠ Membership lapsed
Yellow border, "Membership lapsed" badge.
What it means: Cybersalt found your Joomla account but it does not currently have an active Pro membership for this extension. Most often this happens when a membership has expired, or when you bought a different SKU than the one this extension requires.
What to do: Click the Renew Cybersalt Pro membership button on the card. After you renew, return to the dashboard and click Activate Pro again with the same email — the state will switch to Active.
If you think this is a mistake (you believe your membership is current), contact support.
ℹ Not a member
Blue border, "Not a member" badge.
What it means: The email you entered is not associated with any account on cybersalt.com. Either you do not yet have a Cybersalt account, or the email you entered doesn't match your account email exactly (check for typos, alternate addresses, etc.).
What to do, option 1 — sign up: Click the Sign up for Cybersalt Pro button on the card. After you complete checkout, return to the dashboard and click Activate Pro again with the email you registered.
What to do, option 2 — try a different email: If you already have a Cybersalt account but typed a different email by mistake, use the "Or try a different email" form on the card to retry with the correct address.
⛔ Blocked
Red border, "Blocked" badge.
What it means: Your domain or IP has been blocked from automatic updates. This is usually one of:
- The original membership holder reported the site as "not my client" (the access-revocation flow we offer paid members)
- The domain or IP has been added to the activity blacklist (typically for abuse or policy violation)
What to do: Contact support. We can review the history on the cybersalt.com side and help you sort it out.
Re-linking a different email
If you activated with one email but later want to switch to another (e.g. you bought your Pro membership under a personal account but now want to manage it under your team account):
- On the extension's dashboard, click Deactivate locally. This clears the local activation only — the cybersalt.com record stays intact.
- Enter the new email and click Activate Pro again.
The first email's link record on cybersalt.com is not removed by Deactivate; you can re-activate with the old email later if you want to switch back.
Troubleshooting
- Activation says "Could not register" or "Network error"
- Your site couldn't reach cybersalt.com. Check the site's outbound connectivity (some shared hosts block outbound HTTPS to non-whitelisted domains). Re-try after a minute.
- I activated successfully but Pro features still don't work
- Confirm the extension's admin dashboard shows Active (green border, ✓ badge). If it does and Pro tools are still gated, contact support — this is a code-side bug we want to know about.
- I want to move the extension to a different domain
- On the old site, click Deactivate locally. Install the extension on the new site and click Activate Pro with the same email. The same membership covers any number of sites up to your tier's install limit (see your membership terms).
- What data does Activate send to cybersalt.com?
- Your domain, an installation ID we generate locally (which contains your domain), the email you enter, and a SHA-256 hash of that email. We never receive or store your Joomla admin password, your site's content, or anything else. Full disclosure is in our independent development statement.
